6 tips to improve IT operations management

Published

on

The management of IT operations is a key point for the business to achieve good results in the medium and long term. By structuring processes in the right way, the sector will be able to meet user demands, maintain a high level of innovation and solve operational bottlenecks. In addition, expenses are reduced and the workflow becomes more agile.

1. Organize internal processes

For the management of IT operations to have good results, the business needs to organize the routines of all teams. It is important that the manager knows the internal practices, what is functional and what can be eliminated to generate more competitiveness. And for this to be possible, it is crucial that all practices are documented, organized and tracked correctly.

Without an organized IT sector, the manager finds it difficult to identify what should be optimized. Routines will have more problems to execute, since the ineffectiveness of their activities will lead to more errors. As a consequence, the management of IT operations will not have the necessary foundations for technology to be used as a mechanism to generate competitiveness.

2. Position the sector strategically

The way the IT sector is positioned within the company has a direct impact on the relationship that the team builds with other areas. When the sector manages to maintain an alignment with the objectives and strategies of the rest of the business, technology becomes integrated in more areas and, thus, the company can have a competitive operation.

Investments, for example, will be better targeted. The IT team will adopt solutions that are truly capable of meeting internal demands. Thus, the return obtained with investments will always be the best possible.

In the long run, aligning the IT sector’s strategies with the rest of the company will change the entire way IT operations management is done. It will run with a strong focus on user demands, reducing costs and errors. In addition, bottlenecks will be less frequent and the impact of activities on business results will be maximized.

3. Optimize communication between the team and users

Communication between the IT sector and users must be maintained with open channels. Once the team works side by side with professionals from other areas, it is possible to eliminate bottlenecks, solve demands and design much smarter IT operations management policies.

Conduct surveys to get user feedback after all support team calls. This will give the manager a comprehensive view of the work of the IT team: it will be easier to identify what can be optimized to achieve better results while maintaining services according to the demands of each sector.

4. Invest in new technologies

Investing in new technologies is also a strategy that the business can use to improve the performance of its IT infrastructure. With the right solutions, the company optimizes routines, improves its data analysis and makes the work of the sectors more effective.

One of the choices that the business can make is investing in cloud computing. This technology can bring a number of advantages, such as cost reduction through pay-as-you-go for resources. There is also an increase in mobility, as resources are available on any device with internet access.

With the licensing of software as a service, for example, the company reduces costs with technology, makes the management of IT operations simpler and is guaranteed to always use the latest version of the systems in its work environment.

The subscription price will change depending on the number of active users. Maintenance routines, such as updating to new versions, are carried out by the service provider. With this, the user guarantees access to the most recent versions of the system.

5. Count on the support of a partner company

Support from a consulting firm can also be considered to make IT operations management policies more effective. In this case, the business will hire a partner company to assess how the sector is structured and which routines can be modified to achieve more results, either by updating processes or adopting new technologies.

The industry’s work will be aligned with market standards and the company will have smarter mechanisms to solve daily problems. The company will have its routines evaluated, performance data measured and information about the main demands of each sector raised.

The consultant will then be responsible for identifying anything that is out of the market standard, the existence of possible bottlenecks and factors that can be changed to ensure that the teams act in the best possible way. After that, the company will have a strategy to solve its flaws and internal problems.

The manager will implement a series of changes and, as a result, will optimize the IT operations management routines. In the long term, the results will be monitored so that no failures are ignored and the company has a flow of continuous improvement.

This will be done with the support of new work methodologies or strategies such as the adoption of task automation solutions . If there is a need to gain mobility, for example, cloud computing will be integrated into daily processes. But if the demand is for more digital security, the investment in control software will be made.

6. Outsource secondary routines

Outsourcing IT routines is one of several ways companies can make industry processes more effective. In this process, the company directs secondary activities to specialized professionals. This allows in-house professionals to have a greater focus on managing IT operations, meeting the critical demands of users with high agility and giving more quality to strategic routines.

This process can also reduce costs, provide greater responsiveness to user demands and eliminate industry bottlenecks. Hiring users will be supported by more flexible routines, eliminating most of the steps necessary to expand or reduce the size of teams.

Thus, personnel expenses become more accurate and the IT team gains more agility in the provision of services. The company will pay a fee to maintain the service as needed. And in the event of an increase or decrease in demand for services, the size of the team can be quickly modified, decreasing the business’s response time to requests.

The Portrait Expert: OPPO’s Reno 8T 5G to become the most advanced mid-range smartphone in Nigeria; to launch March 15

Dubbed “The Portrait Expert” OPPO’s Reno 8T 5G is perhaps the most advanced mid-range smartphone and aims to disrupt the Nigerian smartphone market.

World’s fourth largest mobile phone brand, OPPO has announced plans to unveil its latest mid-range smartphone series, the Reno 8T, in Nigeria come March 15, 2023. The announcement was made in a post on the brand’s Instagram page. Following successful international launches in India, Philippines and Kenya, Nigeria is set to join the growing list of markets shipping the Reno 8T series to customers.

Launching in 2 models – the Reno 8T 5G and the standard Reno 8T (4G), massive upgrades have been made in key areas of the new smartphones especially in photography, design and Charging. The Reno 8T 5G for instance will feature OPPO’s first ever 108MP Camera, worthily nicknamed “The Portrait Expert”. Other key features include a 120Hz 3D Curved AMOLED Screen to deliver an amazing next-level visual experience, and a stunning 67W SUPERVOOCTM Charger that ensures over 5 hours of call time on a 5-minute charge and from 0-100% in 44 minutes of charging the Reno 8T 5G. Also, as it has become somewhat of a signature, OPPO’s iconic glow design shines forth on the Reno 8T 5G. Impressive specs.

The Reno 8T 4G on the other hand spots a 100MP Portrait Camera, Fiberglass-Leather Design (which we really love by the way), and 5000mAh Battery with 33W SUPERVOOCTM charger. Not forgetting to mention the expandable RAM, dual stereo speakers, 48-Month Fluency Protection, amongst many other features on both smartphones.

All information and specifications of the Reno 8T Series have also been made available on the brand’s official website, an indication that the devices are ready to hit the market immediately after launch.

Most interestingly will be the price of the smartphones. For the excellent specifications that promise a stellar performance on the Reno 8T series, Oppo is launching the devices as mid-rangers. Interesting yeah? Well, prices for the Nigerian market have not been confirmed, but based on other markets the devices have been launched and are already available, prices are expected to fall within the USD $350 – $450 range. These are speculations of course, until the brand launches and officially makes known the prices for the Nigerian market.

APPLE FILES ANOTHER PATENT FOR A SELF-HEALING SCREEN

New patent applications from Apple could provide information on the company’s first foldable iPhone. First off, it’s important to keep in mind that Apple has already filed a patent for a screen that can heal itself. This time, it also registered a crack resistant panel in addition to another related patent.

The Cupertino company, as previously reported by PatentlyApple, has filed a patent for a screen technology that can repair itself after sustaining small damage, such as scratches, which is the problem facing the flexible panels used in Samsung foldables like the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4.

Now, the resistant display patent, according to information from Android Headlines, mentions a part consisting of three layers. In this view, a thin substrate makes up the first layer. A thin film transistor makes up the second, and a protective layer makes up the third.

The protection of the device’s screen must be ensured because the last layer’s primary job is to protect the first. Regarding the other patent, which deals with the protective layer, there isn’t much of a secret. In this approach, when the display sustains slight surface scratches, it can repair itself.

However, we do not know the specifics of this action yet. Initial device concepts for other devices carried displays with this capabilities from the past. The usage of chemical product to help the panel in recovering in the event of damage of this magnitude could be a component of this notion.

The fact that this will actually be implemented on an iPhone or iPad with a folding screen is still unknown. Since it is only a patent, there is always a chance that it won’t be in a real product. Meanwhile, rumors persist and even bring up the potential debut by the Cupertino giant of a MacBook with a foldable panel.
